Collins N. Vaye is a Ph.D. candidate in the Engineering and Computing Education Program at Florida International University (FIU). He holds a Master of Science in Computer Engineering with a specialization in Cybersecurity from FIU and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Liberia. Collins works at the intersection of engineering and education, specializing in educational policy development and professional development in STEM Education. His dissertation study focuses on enhancing information and communication technology (ICT) in undergraduate engineering education in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). By investigating national ICT policies, university’s implementation strategies, and faculty experiences, his work seeks to understand the “whole” of ICT integration, from policy to practice in low-income regions.
Mr. Vaye brings to his work extensive international experience and demonstrated leadership in STEM education, collaborating with institutions in Africa and the U.S. to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) through research, capacity building, and innovations in education. He has over a decade of educational development experience including developing and facilitating ICT professional development workshops for faculty, staff, and students across the different universities in the U.S. and Africa. In recognition of his ‘scholarship’ advocacy ‘character’ ‘leadership’ and ‘service’, Collins has been honored as an Edward A. Bouchet National Honor Scholar, a Donald H. Wulff Diversity Fellow, and a recipient of a Career Development Award from the Professional and Organizational Development (POD) Network in the USA. He is a recipient of the FIU Prestigious Dissertation Year Fellowship Award. Collins aspires to work at the intersection of government, industry, and academia to support advancements in STEM education domestically and globally.
